Working for Something Bigger than Ourselves

Building a baseball program for homeschoolers has not always been easy: there have been nights of anxious worry and days of tedious work.

"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6:9

Our Program Leadership

I joined the Texans Leadership Committee last August along with several other families to carry on the program that Steve Crone had the vision for several years earlier. The work was sometimes overwhelming. We often found ourselves venturing into unfamiliar territory as we learned how to set up a charitable organization, how to organize tryouts and even how to reserve a baseball field. Through it all, we continued to seek God's wisdom as we worked together to meet the challenges.

Over the Summer, the Board of Directors made a careful search for a coach to oversee all of our teams this Spring before ultimately engaging Lyle Gonzales. He is a coach at Triple Play, so some of you may already be familiar with him. We're excited to have him bring unity to all our levels of play. He will also assist the board in managing some of the field level logistics for our teams. Stay tuned for more information from him to appear on our coaching page.

I have loved getting to know so many new homeschooling families over that past year. Understanding their needs and desires for their players has fueled our passion for providing a baseball opportunity to all homeschool players. When we planned for 2 teams last year, and had an overwhelming number of players show up for the tryouts, it was unthinkable that we wouldn't have a spot for everyone. Creating a third team at the last minute was scary but rewarding.

The hard work becomes just a memory as we see the community grow and thrive together.

Come join the fun!

Our Board of Directors serve for staggered 2 year terms. We meet bi-weekly when gearing up for the Spring, and then monthly to maintain momentum. Meeting locations vary to accommodate members needs. We currently have an opening and would love to have more partners working with us. Maintaining the website, managing the finances and reserving the facilities we use are all tasks that could use some extra assistance as well. You can learn more about our Board Members and how you can volunteer with us on our About Us page.

See you at the fields!

P.S. The other Board members and I love connecting with players and their families. Comment on this post or use the link below to set up a one-on-one conversation for any of our board members.
