Preparing for Spring 2023 Tryouts...What to Expect!

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Tryouts for our upcoming Spring 2023 season are fast approaching! With a new organization name, a new head coach, and a new way to register...we thought we should get some of the FAQ out of the way. Check out our post about our 2023 Spring tryouts and what to expect! See you on Nov. 8th!

Spring Tryouts FAQ:

Who is eligible to try out?

We have a Player Eligibility policy available here. Please determine your eligibility for the Texans and Homeschool World Series before the first day of tryouts.

How do I sign up?

Click the "Book Now" link. We are excited to meet you.

What do I need to do before tryouts?

-Sign up for 2023 Spring Evaluations (Tryouts) above

-Bring printed and signed waivers to the first tryout day.

(If you completed the waivers for the Texans this Fall you can skip this step)

What can I expect when I arrive at tryouts?

Come to each tryout early!

Before entering the field, players must complete registration:

  1. Sign the Code of Conduct acceptance

  2. Sign the Waivers for Liability & Photos

  3. Confirm Uniform sizing & number selection

  4. Receive your tryout number for the day

Why are tryouts 4 days long?

The coaches need 4 days of tryouts to really match the skill levels of each player with such a large age range. We need to evaluate skills, attitudes, and commitment levels. We want every player to be placed at the optimal level in our organization. Please take advantage of the opportunity to showcase your skills at this time.

Days 1, 2 & 3: Involves a variety of skill assessments & drills

Day 4: Players will be broken into groups and assigned arrival times, for their group's scrimmage. (Either 5:30 or 7:30pm)

What can I expect after tryouts?

In early December players will be emailed invitations to join their specific teams. At that time, registration will be completed by following the registration link, initiating a payment plan, and joining their new team in the Game Changer app.

When does the season start?

The season will officially begin with an All-Team Practice and Chili Potluck on January 14th at 11am and will conclude with an end-of-season All-Team Picnic on May 13th.

How does communication work during the season?

During the season, all communications regarding practices & games will happen within the Game Changer app. Each team will have a volunteer team parent who will be responsible for maintaining updated schedules on the app & securing scorekeepers for each game. All team schedules will also be posted on our website for friends, families, and potential next-level coaches to see. Subscribe to our website to receive email notifications about other fun events, blog posts, and news that comes along during the spring season.

What if I still have questions or concerns?

Questions or concerns that come up before the season can be brought directly to the Board of Directors.

During the season, we want concerns to go through your player's coach first. If you would like additional support in solving any concerns, the Board of Directors is here for you. Please reach out!
